Shanghai
Shanghai has
become like a magnet attracting more and more people from both at
home and abroad.
Shanghai is a city full of opportunities and challenges. With
China’s opening up to the
outside world and entry into the WTO, more and more foreign
companies are coming to China. Shanghai, as the economic and finance
center of China, attracts tens of thousands of investors both from
home and abroad. Shanghai is playing an increasingly important role
in the world economy. The rapid development of Pudong New Area, the
Zhangjiang high-tech park, the Waigaoqiao tax-free zone, the
88-story Jinmao Building, among others, all show the strong economic
strength and the promising future of Shanghai. There is an old
Chinese saying: You are able to pick up gold on the streets of
Shanghai.
Shanghai will be hosting the World Expo in 2010, two years after the
Beijing Olympic Games. At that time, Shanghai will become the focus
of the world. Therefore, from now on, Shanghai is plunging itself
into the preparation of the 2010 Expo.
Life in Shanghai is both colorful and exciting. You can go for
leisurely strolls in the Shanghai Museum, taste cuisine from China
or from other parts of the world in restaurants throughout the city.
With your local friends, you can have a pot of tea in a quaint
teahouse in Yu Gardens, appreciate the unique international
architectural style of the buildings in the Bund, take a night
cruise on the Hangpu river, or just spend an evening in the taverns
on the famous tavern road.
You can also
bargain with street vendors at the Xiangyuang clothing
wholesale market. Although the street vendors only have a
scant knowledge of English, they are quite capable of
communicating with international customers from having dealt
with large amounts of international visitors who go there to
buy clothes.
Eastern and Western cultures come together in this unique
city, so you will feel comfortable working, studying as well
as living here.
